Die Britannic lief im Frebruar 1914 vom Stapel. Doch sie wurde angesichts des beginnenden Kriegs sofort zum Lazarettschiff umgebaut. Aus dem Royal Mail Steamer (R.M.S) wurde Her Majesty´s Hospital Ship (H.M.H.S.) Britannic. 

In February 1914 the Britannic was launched. But in the face of the First World War she has been changed into a Hospital Ship. The Royal Mail Steamer (R.M.S.) has turned into Her Majesty´s Hospital Ship (H.M.H.S.) Britannic.

Den Ersten Weltkrieg überstand die Britannic nicht. Am 21. November 1916 fuhr sie zwischen den griechischen Inseln Kea und Makronisos auf eine Mine und sank. Rund 70 Menschen starben.

On November 23rd 1916 the Britannic was fatally wounded by a sea mine and sunk. About 70 people lost their life.
