Alfred Nourney (20) aus Köln war Passagier der zweiten Klassen, buchte aber auf die Erste Klasse (Kabine D 38)  um und nannte sich “Baron von Drachstedt”. Ein Hochstapler? Oben eine Postkarte, die er von Queenstown aus an seine Mutter schrieb. Nourney überlebte den Untergang.

The German Alfred Nourney, aged 20, called himself “Baron von Drachstedt” and changed from 2nd class to 1st class (cabin D 38). This postcard he wrote to his mother in Cologne: “Dear mother, I am so happy being first class! I already know some nice people! A diamond king! Mister Astor, one of the wealthiest Americans is on board! Thousand kisses Alfred.”  Nourney survived the disaster.
